The event 2025 Visit to Hainan Free Trade Port Industrial Parks and Business Matching Event on Medicine and Health Industry for Foreign Consulates and Business Associations in China, co-hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of Hainan Province and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Hainan Provincial Committee, was held from Sept. 2-6. During the event, Hainan International Media Center invited Mr. Chhum Bunthan, the Consul-General of Cambodia in Haikou, for a formal interview.

Over the past 4 years, ten new Cambodian-owned enterprises boasting paid up capital of over CNY 28 million have been established in Hainan. Consul-General Chhum Bunthan stated that once the raft of policies accompanying special customs operations come into effect, Cambodian enterprises will fully leverage the Hainan Free Trade Port's tax policies characterized by "zero tariffs and low tax rates" as well as its open and free trade policies to actively deepen development and cooperation in areas such as port operations, logistics, and tourism. Looking ahead, he firmly believes the Hainan Free Trade Port will become an important hub for Cambodian enterprises, research institutions, and universities looking to achieve sustainable development.
