Haikou's Private Sector Sees Steady Growth in First Half of 2025

Recently, the Haikou Municipal Bureau of Statistics released a brief overview of how Haikou's private sector fared in the first half of 2025. Since the beginning of this year, Haikou's private sector has continued to maintain a steady growth trend against the backdrop of the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) construction, becoming a core driver of local economic development.

The production of private industrial enterprises has continued to grow, accounting for more than half of the total output value of industrial enterprises above designated size. In the first half of the year, private industrial enterprises above designated size in the city achieved a total output value of CNY 24.394 billion, a year-on-year increase of 1.4%. Output grew by 11.9 percentage points compared to the same period last year, accounting for 50.4% of the total output value of industrial enterprises above designated size.

Private wholesale and retail trade continues to grow

In the first half of the year, the city's above-quota private wholesale and retail trade achieved total merchandise sales of CNY 184.549 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.4%, accounting for 39.6% of the city's and 24.6% of the province's above-quota wholesale and retail sales. The above-quota private accommodation and catering market achieved a turnover of CNY 2.615 billion.

Rapid revenue growth in private transportation, warehousing, and postal services

In the first half of the year, large-scale private transportation, warehousing, and postal services enterprises achieved an operating income of CNY 38.589 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4%, outperforming the provincial average by five percentage points.

Private enterprises above designated size in the city's information transmission, software, and information technology service sectors achieved operating revenue of CNY 23.554 billion, while those in the leasing and business service sectors netted CNY 14.921 billion.
