By / / Updated: 21:09,07-August-2025

With Hainan Free Trade Port island-wide special customs operations set to officially commence on December 18, 2025, "Expat Talks", an interview program providing in-depth interpretation of Hainan FTP preferential policies and sharing opportunities of opening-up, will premiere across all HIMC platforms on August 8. Featuring face-to-face dialogues with renowned academics, industry leaders, and international relations experts, the show aims to answer the question: "What do island-wide special customs operations mean?" The inaugural episode will host Long Guoqiang, Vice President of the Development Research Center of China's State Council, and recipient of the State Council special allowance.

Hainan Free Trade Port island-wide special customs operations serve as China's open invitation letter to the world. How will Hainan connect with opportunities globally? What breakthroughs have been achieved in constructing the Hainan Free Trade Port over the past five years? What profound implications lie behind the policy design for island-wide customs operations? Having led multiple missions to assess the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port, Long Guoqiang observes that construction has entered a new phase—taking shape with full momentum ahead of island-wide special customs operations. In the interview, he emphasized that special customs operations mark a starting point for higher-level openness, stating that Hainan must leverage this milestone to accelerate policy implementation, continuously refine the Free Trade Port’s institutional framework, steadily advance institutional opening-up, and strive to become a leading gateway for opening up in the new era.
