Recently, an Airbus A330 aircraft owned by Vietnam’s Vietjet Air slowly taxied into an inspection hanger located at the Hainan Free Trade Port’s one-stop aircraft maintenance industrial base for ‘A level’ inspection and maintenance services provided by a subsidiary of HNA Technic, showing a rise in international market confidence in the Hainan FTP’s aviation maintenance industry.
This was the 40th inbound aircraft to undergo maintenance at the one-stop aircraft maintenance industrial base in Hainan this year. Meanwhile, eleven aircraft have also received livery painting services at the base over the first half of 2025.
The ‘A level’ maintenance service required by the Vietnamese aircraft is one of the basic services provided here in Hainan, and is expected to take five days to complete under the preferential FTP policies, which include deposit-free inbound maintenance and use of bonded import maintenance materials.

The combination of the Hainan Free Trade Port's policy advantages and the high-quality maintenance services on offer here has made this the first choice for many international airlines. In addition to the policies mentioned above, Hainan offers efficient customs clearance procedures and zero-tariff imports for aircraft maintenance parts, greatly reducing operating costs for many airlines. A representative of Vietjet Air explained that “Hainan's FTP policies are very favorable, and they are at the forefront globally in terms of maintenance qualifications and efficiency, making this our first choice for a long-term partnership."
Since the base began operation in 2022, over 2,200 aircraft have undergone maintenance here, 264 have received livery painting services, and maintenance has been performed on 53,000 aviation parts. These numbers include over 100 aircraft based outside of China. Aircraft from nearly 50 domestic and international airlines and aircraft leasing companies have received maintenance and other services here. Over the first half of 2025, there were many highlights at the base, including the completion of the FTP’s first Mongolian aircraft maintenance service, the first international wide-body aircraft livery painting project, and much more, further broadening the business scope of Hainan’s aircraft maintenance base.

The summer travel season means a peak in China’s domestic air passenger market, as well as more room to grow for the inbound aircraft maintenance business. Over the next two months, a wide variety of aircraft from Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, South Korea, and other countries are scheduled to arrive for maintenance, and the base’s total inbound aircraft maintenance service volume is expected to rise sharply this year.

Currently, the base is licensed for maintenance by airworthiness management agencies in 16 countries and regions, and is exploring expansion into markets in Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, the Middle East, and other regions as higher goals are set and achieved.
