In an exclusive interview with HIMC, secretary-general of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS, a tripartite body that fosters cooperation between China, the Republic of Korea, and Japan) Mr. Lee Hee-sup talked about how his impressions of Hainan have changed over the course of several visits. He exclaimed, “Hainan’s development is a glowing picture of dynamism.”
In expressing his hope for tripartite relations between China, South Korea, and Japan, Mr. Lee used the Chinese idiom 同舟共济 (those in the same boat should help each other out.) He believes that the relationship between the three nations is one of a community with a shared future, requiring them to foster a basic consensus of belonging to one big family and promoting further cooperation on that basis, thereby enabling their citizens to live in safety, health, and happiness.
