(Zeeshan Qasim Khan from Pakistan, witnesses his first village gala in Baoting)
Village Spring Festival galas are soirees akin to talent shows, featuring performances reflecting local culture choreographed, directed, and performed by villagers themselves. In recent years, participating in and watching such galas have become a new annual festival tradition in villages across China.
At the “Come One, Come All” Spring Festival gala in Hainan’s Baoting Li and Miao Autonomous County, local residents are the stars, with performing talent from around the county-both professional and amateur and of all ages-taking to the stage to show their stuff. These folk celebrities, with their fully self-produced songs, sketches, and dances, bring Spring Festival celebrations to a whole new level.
This year, overseas communication officer Zeeshan, who has spent 12 Spring Festivals in Hainan, witnesses his first village gala in Baoting. Come admire the talent with him in this installment of My Spring Festival in Hainan.
