Haikou Water Group has a total of 60 water supply wells with an average daily water supply of 100,000 tons. Due to super typhoon ‘Yagi,’ as of early morning on September 8, 29 out of the 60 were without power and unable to pump. By 9 am on September 9, 6 wells had already been activated and the affect on urban water supply was beginning to be ameliorated. Emergency teams are working around the clock on repairs and it is expected that by 8 p.m. on September 9, the remaining wells will resume pumping.
As of 13:00 on September 9, to alleviate water pressure issues on Haidian Island and other areas, Haikou City Water Group brought five emergency wells online.
