Hainan Island International Music Festival Program Preview

Where words fall, music speaks. At 7:30 PM on Dec. 10, the opening concert of the Hainan Island International Music Festival will be held under the theme of the “resonance of the waves” at the Haikou Bay Performance Center Concert Hall. One of the world’s foremost conductors, Jaap van Zweden, will work closely with concert pianist Ms. Jieni Wan to bring the audience some of Beethoven’s most influential works including the Egmont Overture; Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor, Op 37; Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67, and more. 




At 7:30 PM on Dec. 12, the Eternal Four Seasons concert will be performed at the Haikou Bay Performance Center. World-renowned violinist Lu Siqing and musicians from the Major Ensemble will perform two works from the “Four Seasons” by Vivaldi and Piazzolla. 


At 4:30 PM on Dec. 16, world-renowned bass-baritone singer Shen Yang and the Lijunshu Trio will present a cross-border collaboration performance of “Offshore Jazziness” at the Haikou Wormhole Library. 


At 4:30 PM on Dec. 17, world-renowned cellist Jian Wang will perform “Bach in the Twilight” at the Haikou Wormhole Library. 


From 6-7 PM on Dec. 23, the Lobby Botts quartet will perform on the center lawn of Sky Mountain, Haikou Bay, giving the audience an evening of smooth jazz on the sea. 


The Asante Trio featuring Grammy award winning jazz master and African bass king Richard Bona will wow audiences from 8:30 to 10 PM on Dec. 23 on the center lawn of Sky Mountain in Haikou Bay, and from 2:30 to 4 PM on Dec. 24 at the Wormhole Library in Haikou Century Park. 


The Uncle Jazz Ensemble featuring Suzie Wu will perform at the Wormhole Library, Haikou Century Park from 5-6:30 PM on Dec. 24, telling the story of jazz for those who want to hear, and singing about the jazz life for all who are pursuing their dreams. 

From 7:30 to 9 PM on Dec. 24, the Latin Project will fuse Latin and jazz to create a Wave Jazz Party at the Wormhole Library in Haikou Century Park.
