Lin'gao County (pop. 456,000) is located in the northwest of Hainan Province, with a land area of 1,317km², and sea area of 675.66km². The coastline stretches over 114 km, and is dotted with 11 natural harbors. Lin'gao's "Lilimei" Fisherman's ditty and puppetry are listed as China's national Intangible Cultural Heritage. Lin'gao is known as the "land of fish and rice" and "the home of culture".
