Eyes on Expo: A Cheerful and Unusual American's Fun Experience

The theme of the second China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) is "Share Open Opportunities, Co-create a Better Life". Starting from July 25 in the capital city of China's tropical island province Hainan, this year's Expo is the embodiment of China's continued determination to sustain past years' development trends, to continue with wider opening up to the outside world, and to maintain itself as a key driver in the world economy.

With over 2,800 brands from more than 60 countries and regions participating in the Expo, the variety of products is a dazzling array covering everything from perfumes to jewelry, wine, spirits, luxury foods, electronics, and high tech (such as biotechnology and AI).

A lush green emerald set among the blue waters of the South China Sea, Hainan—until recently known as nothing more than a holiday destination—has been reinventing itself as the world's largest Free Trade Port. Serving to bring the world's best goods to Chinese consumers, the Expo is but one of the many ways that are being used to showcase these recent efforts.
