In order to make the duty-free shopping process more convenient and create a better International Tourism Consumer Center in the Hainan Free Trade Port, Hainan is now offering new duty-free delivery methods for passengers departing Hainan Island. Starting February 2, departing travelers may collect their purchased duty-free products by mail delivery, and departing Hainan residents may collect their purchased duty-free products after returning to the island.
If you are a departing traveler, when shopping in duty-free shops (or licensed online duty-free stores) with valid identity documents and departure information, you are now entitled to collect your purchased duty-free products by mail delivery, in addition to the previously available methods of pickup at the airport, railway station, or port upon departure. When choosing to collect by mail delivery, be sure that the buyer, payer, and recipient are all listed as your name, and that the delivery address is outside of Hainan Island. Once the shop confirms that the above requirements are met, your mail will be sent to you after you have departed Hainan.
If you are a departing Hainan resident, when shopping in duty-free shops, you are now entitled to collect your purchased duty-free products after returning to the island, on condition of providing your valid identity documents and departure information. Once the shop checks the above information, you can then pick up your purchase.
Note: residents include Chinese citizens holding Hainan ID cards, Residence Permits, or Social Security Cards, as well as expats living and working in Hainan with Residence Permits.
