Hainan Provincial Health Commission announced that from 00:00 to 24:00 on January 31, 8 new confirmed cases of novel coronavirus (2019-nCov) infection had been reported, with 1 new severe case, 0 new death case, and 0 new discharge case. Among the new confirmed cases, 2 cases were in Haikou City, 1 in Sanya City, 1 in Danzhou City, 1 in Lingshui County, 1 in Ledong County, and 2 in Lingao County. The new severe case was in Sanya City.

As of 24:00 on January 31, Hainan has reported a total of 57 confirmed cases of pneumonia caused by novel coronavirus, 9 severe cases, 1 death case and 1 discharge case.

Among the confirmed cases, 11 were in Haikou, 15 in Sanya, 6 in Danzhou, 4 in Qionghai, 8 in Wanning, 1 in Dongfang, 2 in Chengmai County, 3 in Lingao County, 3 in Lingshui Li Autonomous County, 1 in Qiongzhong Li and Miao Autonomous County, 1 in Ding'an County, 1 in Changjiang County,1 in Ledong County.

As of 24:00 on January 31, 1549 close contacts have been traced, the commission said, adding that among them, 489 have been discharged from medical observation, with 1060 others still under medical observation at home or at the designated facilities.
