Law for Hainan free trade port officially put on national legislative agenda

China's national legislature adopted the motion of Hainan delegation at the closing meeting of the second session of the 13th National People's Congress on Friday, and decided to launch the establishment of the law for Hainan free trade port with Chinese characteristics.

After Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the decision to build the whole island of Hainan into a pilot free trade zone and a free trade port with Chinese characteristics on April 13th, 2018, the Standing Committee of Hainan Provincial People's Congress launched development and research into the legal system of international and domestic free trade zones and free trade ports.

At the second session of the 13th National People's Congress this year, Hainan delegation formed and submitted the motion on establishing the law for Hainan free trade port, which was adopted by the congress.

According to the Standing Committee of Hainan Provincial People's Congress, to set up the law for Hainan free trade port has significant meanings, it will provide basic and fundamental legal safeguards for the construction of the free trade port with Chinese characteristics.
