Boao Lecheng Medical Technology Transformation Platform, the first public medical and technological innovation platform in Hainan’s Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone (also called Boao Hope City), was officially launched on July 29.

Jointly established by China Eye Valley and the administration of the Boao Lecheng Pilot Zone, the platform aims to bring together cutting-edge medical technology and high-end talent from around the world in the field of ophthalmology, developing Boao Hope City into a world class eye & vision care research and development center, an innovative incubator, and an industry cluster.

Since it opened on June 30, 2020, China Eye Valley, located in the Wenzhou Longwan District of Zhejiang Province, has attracted 132 technological enterprises and set up 25 research and development institutions in cooperation with Fortune Global 500 companies and leading ophthalmologic firms, and has brought in 62 investment institutions while incubating nearly 210 technological transformation projects.

At the launch ceremony, experts researching YUTIQ (fluocinolone acetonide intravitreal implant) real-world clinic data were invited to share their insights.

Available to Chinese patients since June, YUTIQ — used for chronic non-infectious uveitis affecting the posterior segment of the eye — is the first imported medicine approved by the National Medical Products Administration based on overseas real-world clinical trial data and the data from domestic patients, thanks to the preferential policies in Boao Hope City.

Meanwhile, Ocumension also announced the start of the real-world clinical data research of OT-703 (Fluocinolone intravitreal implant), a new innovative medicine for the treatment of diabetic macular edema.
