On June 27, the Hainan International Energy Exchange Center building opened in Haikou’s Jiangdong New Area, located in China’s southern Hainan Province. The new building provides a smart, technological, and energy-efficient space for office and commercial purposes as well as a comprehensive trading platform for energy companies.

The sun shines on the the lush green plants growing on the raised outdoor “sky gardens” on each floor, which cover more than 30% of the total construction area of the building. HAIKOU DAILY

Invested by Shandong Energy Group, one of the world's top 500 enterprises, the office building, which measures a total of 65,000 square meters, is the first landmark project in the Central Business District (CBD) of Haikou Jiangdong New Area. It boasts the first 2A-level prefabricated building with a double-layer external respirable curtain wall on the tropical island, as well as the first building to obtain LEED-CS v4 Gold precertification in the Jiangdong New Area.

With the opening of office building, the Jiangdong New Area is moving forward in the establishment of an ecological CBD on the island. Of the over 120 projects under construction in the area, 24 of them have over 1 billion yuan (about $149.4 million) invested. These include the Datang Headquarters Project which is to be completed by the end of July and the SDIC Eco-Environment Building Project, which will be completed by the end of September.
