Recently, the project of upgradingHaikou’s west coast has been successfully completed and the entire west coast was opened to the public again. What kind of scenery can be enjoyed on this 13.1-km golden coastline? Let's have a look.

At the Sea Viewing Platform, a landmark scenic spot on the west coast of Haikou,residents and tourists can be seen jogging against the sea breeze, or strolling along the sidewalk.While feeling the charm of sea views, they discover that the west coast has been renewed. The renovation project of the west coast was officially launched in October last year. It aimedto realize the smooth connection of thesidewalk, jogging track and cycle track, as well as upgrade landscapes and supporting facilities.

“It is really differentfrom before. Everything has been improved including the green area,” said a Haikou Resident.

The project alsoadded12 high-quality service stations along the west coast, expandedand transformed public toilets, and introducedsmall businesses such as convenience stores, effectively improving the commercial service of the west coast while facilitating the public.

“Now, after the reconstruction, the whole coastline is connected, and the lights are on at night. In the follow-up, we will put on the finishing touches on the green belt, and further promotecommercial and cultural businesses,” said Lin Jie, the project leader.

The project has also actively improved the surrounding traffic network, includingbuilding the 2,600-meter No.21 road, the 214-meter Changxi road and the 143-meter Changbin North Roadaround the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center. After completion, the traffic will be further improved to better serve the upcoming 2nd China International Consumer Products Expo that is planned to be held at the Center in July.

Fu Xin, on-site leader of the project, said, “The project improves the commercial services. The five newly-built high-quality service stations around the International Convention and Exhibition Centerwill further enhance the commercial service, improve the surrounding natural environment and upgrade the lighting systemof the region, so as to ensure the smooth holding of the upcoming Hainan Expo.”
