On June 8th, Raffles Hospital Hainan was registered by the Raffles Medical Group (RMG), a Singapore-based leading integrated private healthcare provider, in the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone, China’s southernmost province of Hainan. "We will bring our world-leading medical team and technology and work hand in hand with the Hainan Free Trade Port to build an internationally competitive and influential healthcare brand here," said Xie Fengcai, president of Raffles Medical Group China.

In November 2021, before the RMG made the final decision to invest in Hainan, they made a field visit to the tropical island, and local authorities provided them all the information and assistance they needed. According to Xie, they were very attracted by the preferential policies offered by both the free trade island and the Lecheng pilot zone, which is known as a gateway for international advanced medicines entering China.

When talking about the future big picture, Xie said: "We plan to leverage Hainan’s locational advantages and make Raffles Hospital Hainan a medical hub of RMG’s healthcare network in China and Southeast Asia. RMG will keep providing first-class medical services to high-end customers from China and around the world."
