On May 19, the Hainan International Media Center (HIMC) and FTP+ Relaunch Ceremony was held at Hainan Broadcasting Station's Haikou HQ, marking a fresh start for the brand-new, unified HIMC and the new version of the TV program FTP+.

The integration of the Hainan Daily Press Group and the Hainan Broadcasting Station will pool the strengths of both media groups as well as international communication resources from across Hainan to bring audiences in Hainan and around the world international-standard online Hainan content with a Chinese twist. The ceremony also introduced a reboot of the excellent talk show FTP+, a multi-lingual international communications program, which will now be presented by a new team of bilingual hosts.

To create an open channel connecting the tropical island to the world, the talk show FTP+ was launched by the Hainan Broadcasting Station on August 30, 2020, shortly after China released the master plan for the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port. Focusing on attracting both investment and talent from China and around the world, the show invites guests from all walks of life, including leading scholars, entrepreneurs, and business leaders, to share their thoughts and experiences. So far, the program has won a number of press circle awards with many episodes having been viewed more than one million times.

Having aired almost 100 episodes, FTP+ has presented content on most of the major events held in Hainan, including the China International Consumer Products Expo, the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference, the Sanya and Haikou Taiwan Business summits, a seminar on the yacht industry of the Hainan Free Trade Port, the contract signing ceremonies of provincial key projects, and more.

Previous guests include Li Jiaqi (a Chinese live-streaming star), Rupert Hoogewerf (Chairman and Chief Researcher of the Hurun Report), and Tao Lin (Tesla's Global Vice President), as well as representatives of around 100 leading enterprises that have invested in Hainan, including QF Capital, Bloomage Biotechnology, the world’s leading diamond group De Beers, Digital Domain (a visual effects pioneer honored with 11 Academy Award wins), and the PADI diving company, who all shared their insights and stories with FTP+, as well as their expectations for a promising future in the Hainan Free Trade Port.

FTP+ has been paying close attention to the business sector since the beginning of the Hainan FTP’s development, along with the improvement of the island’s business environment, the new island departure duty-free policies, the Qualified Domestic Limited Partner (QDLP) and Qualified Foreign Limited Partner (QFLP) policies, and many other business-related news items.

FTP+ reported on the 100 million dollar investment of Jiacheng International Logistics in Hainan, the first company to enjoy the Hainan FTP’s processing value added tax policy, the world's fastest factory construction speed, the investment of 700 million dollars in the Haikou National High-tech Industrial Development Zone by a branch of Bloomage Biotechnology, which brought its production line from France to Hainan, and on the opening of the first intercontinental ship route in the Hainan FTP by the Lenton Group, which plans to place its Asia-Pacific region shipping hub in Hainan.

In the future, FTP+ will feature a bilingual broadcast by the Hainan Daily Press Group and the Hainan Broadcasting Station through over 30 online media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. The program will keep dishing out refreshing perspectives, recording the ever-accelerating changes in Hainan, and sharing the thrilling opportunities brought by the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port with the world.
