Wednesday marks the 46th International Museum Day. The theme of this year's International Museum Day is "The Power of Museums". This morning, an Animal Relics Exhibition kicked off at Hainan Museum, showing the cultural charm of animal relics. The exhibition presents more than 150 sets of cultural relics from the collection, attracting many visitors. It will last until the middle of October.
Wang Huishan, the Deputy Director of Hainan Museum expressed, "Through the collection of animal relics, we want to reflect the power of nature, and also provide high-quality cultural services for the public, so as to let them learn how the Chinese have lived in harmony with animals since ancient times."
Mr. Ma, a Haikou Resident added, "I brought my whole family to see this exhibition. It's suitable for kids, quite interesting."
In order to let more people have a deeper understanding of cultural relics and history, Hainan Museum has also launched a series of activities including free explanations, VR experiences and online exhibitions.
Sun Xuedong, the Director of Cultural Heritage Division, Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports of Hainan Province said that, During the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port, people's demand for culture is becoming more and more urgent. Museums in all cities and counties of Hainan are also promoting more exhibitions.
China Museum of the South China Sea Launches "The Power of Museums" Series of Activities
Today, the China Museum of the South China Sea launched the series of activities themed with "Power of Museum", and signed a cooperation framework agreement with Sanya Beautiful Fishing Village Investment and Development Co., Ltd. It takes advantage of the museum's resources to conduct the integration of culture and tourism integration and boost the development of tourism in Hainan.
"We will cooperate closely with the China Museum of the South China Sea, including establishing the West Island's history museums together. We believe that there will be more wonderful events in cultural tourism and museums in the future," Wu Fuyao, the Director of Sanya Beautiful Fishing Village Investment and Development Co., Ltd. expressed.
In addition, the museum also held two exhibitions online via live streaming, focusing on the global maritime relics from the 15th century to the 19th Century and collected cetacean specimens.
