Talents are a decisive factor in the comprehensive deepening of China’s Reform and Opening-Up and the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port. Since the Chinese government formally announced the Master Plan for the Construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port on June 1, 2020, Hainan has gradually become a destination of interest for domestic and international talents alike. Many talented individuals, particularly those from overseas, have to come to Hainan to pursue their dreams and share in the development opportunities which are provided by the construction of the Free Trade Port.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and Hainan Provincial Government will jointly launch a recruitment activity in order to attract even more people to the task of helping the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port project. This activity will explicitly promote Hainan to talented individuals from around the world. The Hainan International Media Center and the Hainan International Communication Network have launched a special program “Welcome to Hainan” interviewing foreigners currently working in Hainan so that their telling of their stories will help attract talented individuals currently unfamiliar with Hainan, and help them know that Hainan welcomes everyone to come and share in the opportunities provided by the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

For this video, we invited South African Lara Netherlands (Host of Hainan International Media Center) to share her experience of working and living in Hainan and to invite other talented individuals from her home country and other countries to come to Hainan to find their own way forward.
