As of June 8, a total of 12.9147 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine had been administered in Hainan Province, according to the Hainan Provincial Health Commission.
These include 7.1128 million doses administered for the first shot of the Covid-19 vaccine, accounting for 92.13% of the population 18 years and above, and for 70.56% of the entire population of the province, while 5.0819 million doses were administered for the second shot, accounting for 75.15% and 57.56% of the population, respectively.
As of now, China has approved the emergency use of COVID-19 vaccines for those aged 3 to 17 years old. However, according to the Hainan Provincial Health Commission, Hainan is still focusing on vaccination for those above 18 years of age, while vaccination for those under 18 is still on hold for now.
Haikou announced that starting June 7, some city clinics and hospitals are able to provide the single-dose Recombinant Covid-19 Vaccine (Adenovirus Type 5 Vector) developed by the Chinese company CanSino Biologics.
In order to shorten the vaccine period, the provincial government has purchased a small number of single-shot vaccines for those in Haikou and Sanya who have an emergency need to travel abroad. As of now, single-dose vaccines are only available to Chinese nationals.
Following are the assigned 27 sites in Haikou offering the single-dose Covid-19 vaccine:
