Hainan GDP up 1.1% in first three quarters of 2020

Hainans GDP in the first three quarters of 2020 has reached 384.131 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.1 % when calculated at comparable prices, according to  the Hainan Provincial Bureau of Statistics.

In terms of tourism consumption, the province received a total of 36,495,900 tourists in the first three quarters, earning a total tourism revenue of 45.220 billion yuan. These numbers show a recovery rate of 65.2% and 63.9% respectively over the same period last year.

Imported goods saw an increase, while the utilization of foreign capital saw a substantial increase. The actual utilization of foreign capital in Hainan in the first three quarters of the year amounted to 589 million US dollars, an increase of 88.2% year-on-year.

Hainans ecological and environmental quality remained high, with the provinces good air quality rating reaching 99.9% in the first three quarters.

Overall, these statistics show that the measures taken to accelerate Hainans economic recovery this year have achieved remarkable results, especially since the release of the Master Plan for the Construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port in June and the further optimization of the Island Departure Duty Free Policy in July.
