On October 11, the Hainan Provincial Tourism Resource Planning and Development Quality Evaluation Committee announced that the Hainan Museum and the China (Hainan) Museum of the South China Sea met the national 4A-level tourist scenic spot standards and were approved as national 4A-level tourist attractions.

Hainan Museum was completed and opened on November 15, 2008. The second phase of the museum opened to public on May 18, 2017. It is a comprehensive museum in Hainan province and a national first-class museum. With unique shape and rich exhibitions, Hainan Museum has become a landmark building in the provincial capital Haikou and even the whole province as well as a beautiful human landscape, attracting many Chinese and foreign tourists and making positive contribution to the cultural construction of Hainan International Tourism Island.

China (Hainan) Museum of the South China Sea is located in Tanmen town of Qionghai city, with a total construction area of over 70,000 square meters. It has more than 70,000 collections of various types, including historical export cultural relics, South China Sea biological specimens, Hainan historical relics, historical ship models, etc. It fully demonstrates the cultural history, natural ecology, cultural heritage protection of the South China Sea, as well as economic and trade exchanges and cultural exchanges between China and the countries surrounding the South China Sea, and promotes cultural exchanges and cooperation between countries and regions along the Maritime Silk Road.
