Hainan, located at the southernmost tip of China, grew from the sea and towards the world. An important node on the ancient Maritime Silk Road, ships carrying merchants and their wares once passed through here in droves. 

Malaysia, situated on the strategic Strait of Malacca, is the lynchpin of ASEAN both on land and at sea, where people from far-flung lands and a myriad of cultures form a melting pot. 

Hainan and Malaysia, joined by waves, connected by commerce, and bonded by culture. These timeless links are being renewed with fresh vigor in the new era. 

Riding on the successful implementation of the RCEP, mutually beneficial cooperation between China and ASEAN is growing ever deeper. With the upgrade of CAFTA to version 3.0, both sides have entered the fast track of development together. With the Belt and Road Initiative on the ascent, the Hainan Free Trade Port is embracing Southeast Asia and the world through an even higher degree of institutional opening up.

Against this backdrop, a new bridge of regional cooperation has risen from the waves: the HIMC-ASEAN Liaison Center, which has now been officially launched.
