On July 7, a Memorandum of Understanding on Friendly Exchanges and Cooperation was signed between Hainan Province in China and South Chungcheong Province in the Republic of Korea. The MOU was formally endorsed by Bater, Executive Vice Governor of Hainan Province and Park Jeong-ju, Deputy Governor of South Chungcheong Province.
According to the MOU, the two sides will promote exchange and cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, tourism, culture, education, youth, the environment, and sustainable development. They will work to implement joint projects and international exchange activities, with significant support provided to related participating institutions. They will also promote government-to-government and people-to-people exchanges to enhance bilateral understanding and friendship.
Before the signing ceremony, Bater met with Park and his delegation for a discussion on strengthening cooperation in cultural tourism, green economy, education, medical care, port logistics, and other related areas.
During their time in Hainan, the ROK delegation also visited several locations in Haikou and Sanya, including Jiangdong New Area and the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone. They gained an in-depth understanding of the development status of the two cities and provided support for the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Hospitality Institute of Sanya and ROK's Soon Chun Hyang University.
Located in the center of the Korean Peninsula, South Chungcheong Province enjoys an excellent geographical location and features several major ports, facilitating international trade and logistics. The area is one of the ROK's industrial centers, with electronics, petrochemicals, automobile manufacturing, agriculture, and fisheries as the mainstay industries. South Chungcheong Province is also a highly developed agricultural area, with rice, garlic, peppers, and other products growing in abundance.
