19 new species have been discovered in Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park system pilot area

Since the establishment of the Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park, 9 new species of plants, 5 new species of animals, and 5 new species of large fungi have been discovered in just over a year, which means that there are still too many unknown secrets hidden in this piece of land that covers about 1/7 of the land area of Hainan Island.

Every rare wild species lives a free life in the tropical rain forests of Hainan. In the Bawangling forest area, after half a year of follow-up and observation, the monitoring team of Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park found that the fifth group of Hainan gibbons was forming. At the area of Bangxi, dozens of kilometers away from Bawangling, a young cub-deer tried learning to forage independently. Next to a stream in the Diaoluo Mountain forest area, a small-clawed otter in shiny furs probed his head for food. In a wetland in the hinterland of Yinggeling, a few Hainan knobby newts battled for courtship. Among the fallen leaves and branches in the Jianfengling rainforest, a black and yellow round-nosed lizard suddenly raised its head and stuck out its tongue.
