Hainan’s 1st JD Mall to Open in 2027 at Wangfujing Haiken Plaza

A signing ceremony between Wangfujing Haiken Plaza and JD Mall was held in Haikou, capital of south China’s Hainan Province, on the afternoon of Sept. 9, 2026. Thanks to the agreement, Hainan’s first JD Mall store is expected to open in the second quarter of 2027.

Wangfujing Group is a well-known commercial retail enterprise in China that currently operates two projects in Hainan, one in Haikou and one in Wanning on the southeastern coast of the island province.

The Wangfujing Haiken Plaza, the site of the newly signed JD Mall project, is located at No.71, Central Haixiu Road, Longhua District in Haikou, and officially opened in October 2023.

JD Mall, which functions as a physical product showcase, user experience and interactive center, and city service center for JD, a leading Chinese e-commerce platform, operates more than 30 stores in major Chinese cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong.

Covering nearly 30,000 square meters, Hainan’s first JD Mall at Wangfujing Haiken Plaza is expected to provide Hainan shoppers with a more cutting-edge shopping and consumer experiences.

Under the zero-tariff policy for daily consumer goods for local Hainan residents,

Chinese residents with a Hainan ID card, residence permit, or social security card, and foreign nationals with legal residency documents who work and live in Hainan are currently eligible to purchase duty-free goods in eight locations across the province.

Shoppers can pick up purchases immediately after verifying personal ID information on site. The annual duty-free shopping quota per person is RMB 10,000, with no limit on the number of total purchases.

The policy covers 202 product categories that mainly cover high-frequency daily use consumer goods such as food and beverages, cleaning products, maternal and infant products, and household goods.
