The finals of the 2026 “Sanyuesan” Bamboo Dance Competition in Baisha Li Autonomous County were grandly held at Baisha Cultural Square on Saturday.
The bamboo dance is a vivid expression of the rich traditional culture of the Li and Miao people. It is also a spiritual symbol of the warmth, hospitality, and collective progress of the people of Baisha. The competition serves as a practical effort to preserve and promote traditions as well as enrich public cultural life.

On stage, contestants in splendid Li and Miao costumes moved to lively, melodious rhythms. As bamboo poles opened and closed in unison with rhythmic clacks, dancers leaped, spun, and wove through the gaps with agility and strength. Their seamless coordination and energetic performance won enthusiastic applause from local residents and visiting tourists.
“The competition was spectacular,” said Ms. Li, a first-time visitor. “This is my first time celebrating ‘Sanyuesan’ in Baisha, and I hope these festivities continue to flourish.”
