Bicycles are one of the best ways to travel around Sanya. In the summer, the cool shade of overhanging greenery and the chorus of chirping cicadas make it a perfect place for a free and unrestrained getaway, where you can escape from your busy life, temporarily relieve your stress and worries, and enjoy the scenery.

Pastoral Paradise

Route: Zhongliao Village → Damao Honghua Village → Luopeng Village → Damao Village Sannong Reservoir

When seen from above, the 14km long Damao Greenway is like a satin ribbon winding among a patchwork landscape of mountains, lakes, and rivers. Peaceful and beautiful, the surrounding mountains embrace the nearby villages, rivers, and fields. It’s as if you are a million miles away from the city.

Embracing Blue

Route: Yingbin Road → Yalongwan Road → Taiyangwan Road

Yalong Bay has many beautiful roads for you to take. From fields in the south, lakes in the north, and mountains to both east and west, the whole way to the sandy beaches that make the bay famous one is surrounded by gorgeous landscaping that combines natural beauty with man-made order to create a “green tunnel”.

If you want, you can continue to Sun Bay. Hidden deep within Yalong Bay, this is the most beautiful sea view road Sanya has to offer. Reminiscent of “California's State Route 1”, riders are caught between the mountains on one side and the sea on the other for a 6km stretch of achingly beautiful road.

Sunset Love

Haiyue Square → Sanya Bay Road → Coconut Dream Corridor

Hugging Sanya Bay, this mostly flat road with gentle curves is very suitable for an evening training ride. Accompanied by cooling breezes the whole way, it’s very relaxing and the perfect way to enjoy this tropical coastal city.

If you time things right, sunsets along the Coconut Dream Corridor are considered among the most beautiful in Hainan. In the gloaming light of a dying day, reds and oranges fill the sky with a stunning palette of colors that make the palm trees below stand out like individual works of art.

Summer Romance

Route: Beauty Crown → Fenghuang Road → Sanya No. 1 Middle School → Sanya Phoenix International Airport → Tianya Haijiao

This is one of Sanya's main trunk routes. Despite this, the generous bike lanes and high rate of greenery make it an excellent place to ride. Coconut palms and bougainvillea plants are but a few of the colorful landscape features planted by the city government along what is generally considered to be one of the most beautiful roads in Sanya.

At the end, take the time to visit the famous scenic spot “Tianya Haijiao” and pledge to your loved ones that you will cherish them until the ends of the earth and back again.

Gourmet Tour

Route: Shuinan Village → Huanjin Road → Shuinan Primary School → Shengde Hall → Yacheng Bridge → Yazhou Ancient City → Yacheng Academy

This 7km route will take you through the oldest parts of Sanya. You will get to see unique historical buildings, and spend most of your time visiting one delicious snack stall after another and another and another.

Shrimp buns, Gangmen noodles, and sour noodles are inexpensive and good quality. Or, if you have it in mind to get a meal, lamb hot pot or sour fish soup are sure to last in your memories long after the flavor has dissipated.
