
A long table banquet and a romantic Li and Miao love song festival were held Sunday evening along the banks of the Nancha River in Baisha Li Autonomous County, Hainan Province, as part of the celebrations for 2026 Hainan “Sanyuesan”.
The event, a key feature of the local festivities, showcased the rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality of people in Baisha.

As dusk fell around 6 p.m., the floating stage on the Nancha River came alive in a vibrant display of lights. Long tables stretched along both the north and south banks, laden with traditional Li delicacies such as three-color sticky rice, Fucai sweet potatoes, Shanlan rice wine, and fried fish. Local Li residents joined visitors from across the country in a communal feast that reflected the region’s long-standing tradition of warmth and harmony.
The evening featured a series of classic musical performances and lively folk song contests among different townships. One of the highlights was an interactive antiphonal singing session, during which crowds gathered on opposite banks of the river and sang traditional songs in response to one another. The blend of singing, applause, and cheers created a moving tribute to the unity between different ethnic groups.

“As a Li girl in Baisha, I am thrilled to take part in this grand celebration for the first time,” said a student volunteer surnamed Tan, who welcomed guests in traditional attire with cups of Shanlan wine. “I hope more people will come to visit Baisha and fall in love with it.”
