Since the China Yangpu Port ship registry was established in June 2020, its fleet has grown to 101 vessels with a combined carrying capacity of over 8.9 million deadweight tons. More and more shipping companies are choosing to register their ships in Hainan.
For shipping companies, choosing a port of registry means weighing costs, efficiency and service. So why China Yangpu Port? In short: lower costs, simpler procedures and greater peace of mind.
First, lower costs. Hainan Free Trade Port policies, including zero tariffs on eligible imported vessels, export tax rebates for qualifying domestically built vessels, and "dual 15%" corporate and personal income tax incentives, help reduce ship acquisition and operating costs.
Next, simpler procedures. Hainan accepts technical parameter certificates in place of traditional technical drawings for ownership registration of newly built vessels. Online platforms offering one-stop processing and coordinated services bring together registration, approval and regulatory procedures, reducing paperwork and office visits to make registration more efficient.
Hainan Rongsheng Shipping Co., Ltd., established in Yangpu this year, has experienced the difference firsthand. Based on past experience, transferring registration and obtaining certificates would take at least a month. In Yangpu, however, the Hainan International Ship Registration Administration provided one-to-one support and reviewed the documents in advance. From formal application to completion of ownership registration, the process took just one day. Rongshengxing became the 101st vessel on the China Yangpu Port registry.
More importantly, greater peace of mind. Hainan has pioneered an island-wide single-port registration model, under which eligible international vessels use China Yangpu Port as their port of registry. This gives businesses more consistent, clearer registration rules.
As more vessels join the registry, Hainan is forging closer connections with global shipping networks through Yangpu.
