The Resorts World Awana-Malaysia Leg of the China Hainan Junior International Golf Tournament 2026 teed off on August 14 at Awana Golf Course in Genting Highlands, Malaysia.
The tournament drew 110 junior golfers from China, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Myanmar, India, the United Kingdom, and other countries and regions.
The event features eight separate divisions for boys and girls, divided into four age groups: A, B, C, and D. Players in Group A (ages 16–18) and Group B (ages 13–15) are participating in a 54-hole, three-round stroke-play tournament, with scores contributing to the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
Players in Group C (ages 10–12) and Group D (ages 9 and under) are competing over 36 holes across two rounds. The division winners will earn direct qualification for the 2026 Hainan Junior Golf Tour Grand Final.
The Hainan Junior Golf Tour began in Hainan in 2013. Its first Malaysia leg was held in 2019 at Glenmarie Golf and Country Club in Kuala Lumpur.
An official from the Hainan Golf Association mentioned that the competition evaluates not just players' skills, but also their composure and determination. Off the course, organizers will host friendship activities for young people from China and Malaysia, giving participants chances to forge connections and create memorable moments beyond the game itself.
