Hainan is set to host a month of premier international sporting events in July, featuring top-tier competitions in martial arts, volleyball, and basketball across the island, as announced by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television, and Sports of Hainan Province.

From July 7 to 9, the Haikou 2026 International Wushu Federation (IWUF) 4th Taolu World Cup will be held at Wuyuanhe Gymnasium in Haikou. As the highest-level international taolu competition, the event will feature 22 medal events, including bare-hand routines, short and long weapons, and duilian (sparring routines). More than 100 elite athletes from nearly 30 countries and regions are expected to compete.

The 2026 AVC Boys' U18 Volleyball Championship is scheduled for July 12 to 18 at Wuyuanhe Gymnasium. Sixteen top youth teams from Asia will compete, with the top four earning spots in the 2027 FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U19 World Championship. Defending champions China are in Pool A with Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong, China. Pool D includes Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Australia, which is expected to be one of the most competitive groups.

On July 1, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) confirmed that the 2026 FIBA Solidarity Cup will be hosted in Haikou. The event will feature national teams from China, Cameroon, Georgia, and Montenegro competing in six games across three matchdays—July 24, 25, and 27—at Wuyuanhe Gymnasium. The tournament will feature NBA players such as Torrey Craig of the Boston Celtics and Ulrich Chomche, who played two seasons with the Toronto Raptors, ensuring a high level of competition for basketball enthusiasts.
