On May 24, the Sanya Tourism Development Bureau announced that Round 11 of Season 12 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will officially hit the streets of Haitang Bay, Sanya, on June 20, marking the return of the world’s premier all-electric racing series to the city after seven years.

A key highlight this year is the debut of the new GEN3 Evo race car. As the latest third-generation Formula E vehicle, it boasts significant upgrades, including all-wheel drive and specially designed tires. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only 1.86 seconds, showcasing the rapid progress and high performance of electric racing technology. The race will feature a unique urban street circuit with intricate corners and a demanding layout that will challenge drivers' skills and strategies. Reaching top speeds of 322 kilometers per hour, racers need to carefully control electric torque and execute quick overtaking maneuvers at high speeds.

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is the first FIA-certified all-electric world championship and the only premier sporting event worldwide to attain net-zero carbon certification. Its return to Sanya is anticipated to boost the tropical coastal city’s international reputation within the global sports scene.

Preparations for the event are now in the final stages. On May 23, Silkway Airlines flight 7L7730 from Azerbaijan and Cargolux flight CV7005 from Luxembourg transported race cars and high-precision equipment for the event to Hainan. They carried a total of 21 race cars and about 207 tons of precision racing items, all of which passed customs smoothly and were transferred to the venue.

Additionally, Sanya is hosting a GEN3 Evo exhibition and interactive event through June 2, allowing the public to experience the excitement of electric racing firsthand.

Blending advanced racing technology, fierce on-track rivalry, and Sanya’s distinctive coastal landscape, the 2026 Sanya E-Prix is set to be one of the most anticipated events of the Formula E season.
