Hainan Lausanne Tourism University has recently launched its nationwide admissions campaign for 2026. Approved by China’s Ministry of Education as an independent overseas higher education institution, it was established by EHL Hospitality Business School, which has maintained the top position in QS Hospitality & Leisure Management rankings for eight consecutive years.
Graduating students will earn a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management from EHL Hospitality Business School as well as a Bachelor’s degree from Hainan Lausanne Tourism University. Both degrees are recognized worldwide.
The year 2026 marks the first year following the launch of island-wide special customs operations of the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP), opening up numerous opportunities for the province. Located in Sanya, Hainan Lausanne Tourism University is accepting students from 19 Chinese provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions. The school recently held its first admissions info session in Nanjing and plans to hold more events in major cities, including Chengdu, Guangzhou, and Hangzhou.
As Sanya fully embraces special customs operations, there is a growing demand in the FTP’s tourism and cultural sectors for interdisciplinary professionals with international outlooks, specialized expertise, and practical skills. The university emphasized that its founding goal is to address the shortage of top-tier talent in tourism and hospitality within the FTP and to adapt to the industry's evolving needs.
During the admissions event, Dr. Luciano Lopez, President of Hainan Lausanne Tourism University, emphasized that the institution offers more than just a substitute for studying abroad; it represents a new talent development approach grounded in China yet aligned with global standards. Students can receive a comprehensive international education and practical professional training without leaving the country, following a development model of “local cultivation with global empowerment.”
The university has fully adopted EHL’s core education model, which combines academic rigor, immersive practical experience, and a human-centered approach. It has created a system that features fully immersive English teaching, dual-track hands-on training, and progressive workplace exposure. Leveraging EHL’s extensive global industry network, the university has formed partnerships with luxury hotels and retail groups, tourism and cultural brands, and financial institutions, offering students a comprehensive pathway from classroom learning to career development.
Graduates will be well-placed for career opportunities in diverse sectors such as tourism and hospitality, cultural and tourism management, luxury retail, fintech, and cultural education. As Sanya accelerates its shift from a global tourism destination to a hub for tourism and hospitality talent, the university’s 2026 admissions are expected to continue to provide internationally focused professionals for both the city and the Hainan FTP.
