On February 28, 2026, Qionghai Boao International Airport (Boao Airport) and Haikou Meilan International Airport (Meilan Airport) launched three new tandem all-cargo flight routes, including two international routes: Qionghai-Bangkok and Bangkok-Haikou, and one domestic route: Haikou-Shenzhen.

This marks Boao Airport's first official international all-cargo route, as well as the first time the airport has engaged in high-efficiency coordination with Meilan Airport to deliver international two-way cargo services.

Building upon the previously opened Shenzhen-Qionghai route, the three newly added freight routes now connect the four cities, officially integrating Boao Airport into the global air cargo network.

All three newly added routes are operated by JD Airlines using B737-800 freighter aircraft, with a maximum single-trip payload of 22 tons and five weekly flights.

What do these new routes mean for consumers and companies?

The new routes will facilitate the direct, express delivery of local components, e-commerce parcels, and other goods from Hainan to ASEAN, transforming logistics efficiency into industrial competitiveness. In the other direction, tropical fruits like durians and pomelos from Thailand can be "picked in the morning and delivered by evening," benefiting more China's domestic consumers.

Additionally, the new route fills the capacity gap in international air cargo for eastern Hainan, strengthening the island's air cargo network and laying a firm foundation for deeper collaboration among Meilan, Phoenix, and Boao airports to form an integrated island-wide logistics system.

Hainan Airport Group stated that it would continue to optimize the coordination of customs port resources at the three airports, while making greater efforts to expand domestic and international air cargo networks.
