With the nine-day Spring Festival holiday rapidly approaching, sunny Hainan Island is pulling out all the stops, welcoming visitors with a huge variety of different fun experiences. This year, Hainan is holding over 165 cultural and travel themed activities, with a wide range of traditional festivals, art performances, sports events, and innovative events sure to create unforgettable memories.

This CNY, Hainan is welcoming vacationers to explore six main highlights:

and will continue through the end of February, including a New Year's Market taking place in Haikou's Historic Qilou Street area; a Lantern Festival flower exchange in Fucheng, Haikou; the Yachting and Sailing Resort Season at Qingshui Bay, Lingshui; a Lantern Festival Garden Party in Danzhou; the traditional "Fat Chicken Competition" in Bo'ao, Qionghai; and a Li and Miao Cultural Festival in Baoting - all excellent choices for those interested in discovering more about local Hainan customs and New Year's traditions.

During the Spring Festival period, Hainan will also host performances by several internationally renowned music artists. Wang Leehom's Best Place Tour is being held at the Sanya Sports Center Bailu Gymnasium from February 6-8th. In addition, cultural centers and libraries across Hainan will hold a variety of activities, giving away handwritten Spring Festival couplets, holding intangible cultural heritage performances, and putting on calligraphy and painting exhibitions.

Sports fans will want to check out the many sporting events held during the holiday. The 2026 Asian Table Tennis Cup runs from February 4th to 8th in Haikou for the first time, bringing together top Asian table tennis players in the "Coconut City". The Baoting National Air Volleyball Open will be held from February 26th to March 4th, and the DP World Hainan Classic gold tournament will be held at Mission Hills Haikou from Mar. 19-22nd. Evening entertainment and immersive performances are another not to be missed Hainan highlight. The Sanya Immersive Night Tribe Experience in Haitang Bay, Sanya thrills audiences through interactive live-action drama. Danzhou’s Ocean Flower Island will hold a spectacular performance featuring circus artists from around the world, and the "Tongza 1988" block in Wuzhishan will blend nostalgia with modern style to create a new performance space. A number of family-friendly, health & wellness, and education themed tour routes will also be launched during the holiday.

Several new culture and sightseeing themed projects will also be launched around the time of this year's Spring Festival, offering vacationers new experiences and opportunities to explore. ‘Haitang’s Story’ - which aims to operate as a "coastal cultural living room" will open officially in Sanya on Feb. 10th, and in Baoting, the "Dream of Seven Fairies" park will open Feb. 11th. At the Window of World Tropical Fruits in Qionghai, a Fruit Carnival kicked off Jan. 12th and is continuing through Mar. 3rd, combining agriculture and sightseeing.
