On January 27, the Fifth Session of the Seventh Hainan Provincial People’s Congress officially opened. The government work report proposed advancing the establishment of the Peking University Hainan Institute and launching the construction of the Xi’an Jiaotong University International Regional Innovation Center. The report also called for the full completion of the Guilinyang Campus of Hainan Normal University; accelerating the development of the Yongxing Education City in Haikou, the Yazhou Campus of Hainan University, the Guilinyang Campus of Hainan Medical University, and Phase II of the Hainan Police College; and striving to obtain approval for one new independently operated institution run by an overseas university, as well as initiating the establishment of one new independently operated education program.
