Further improving the convenience of routes with Xinjiang, this is the first year Haikou has had routes going to Aksu, Bozhou, Jiayuguan, and Yili.

Internationally, Meilan has successively opened routes to Tokyo, Osaka, London, Jakarta, Jeddah, Penang, Nha Trang, and Ho Chi Minh City, and increased the frequency of direct flights between Haikou and cities in RCEP countries (such as Bangkok, Singapore, Seoul, Melbourne and Sydney).

Passengers Waiting to Board

In addition to shortening the minimum connecting time for international-to-international through transfers to 60 minutes and 90 minutes for non-through transfers; and 90 minutes for transfers between international and domestic flights within the same terminal, over 100,000 international passengers who choose Haikou as their overseas transit point or domestic passengers whose household registration is not in Haikou benefited from exclusive benefits such as free meals and accommodation when taking outbound flights.

Passengers Waiting for Security Check

Of the 18,000 passengers with special needs who have passed through Meilan Airport in 2025, there are a full range of helpful services including escort check-in, priority security screening, and wheelchair assistance.

Furthermore, to make the wait between flights more bearable, the Sino-Singapore (Hainan) Airport Commercial Management Co., Ltd. (jointly established by Meilan Airport and Singapore Changi Airport International Management Investment Co., Ltd.), the airport's tax-paid and duty-free shopping areas and the terminal complex have been upgraded. In 2025, a total of 48 new shops opened including famous chains like Wenxing Tea Restaurant, Burger King, and Shangnantang; ten of these brands chose Meilan for their Hainan Free Trade Port debut; and there's also one Michelin Bib Gourmand recommended brand, and two time-honored Chinese brands.
