On Sept. 14, the first phase of the Hainan FTP International Student Content Creation Training Camp, part of the Hainan FTP International Student Content Creation Project, kicked off as nearly 50 international Hainan Medical University students toured Qionghai. The students began a journey of discovery, experiencing the unique appeal of the FTP through the different lenses of medical tourism, local cuisine, and tropical agriculture as they conducted on-site visits, participated in a variety of activities, and created related content.

The first stop on the tour was the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone, where the students visited the Boao Lecheng International Innovative Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment Exhibition and the Yiling Life Care Center. At the exhibition, they were given a detailed introduction to the R&D achievements and application scenarios of a wide variety of cutting-edge international innovative pharmaceuticals and medical devices, learning more about the innovative vitality of the pilot zone. At the Yiling Life Care Center, the students explored the distinctive high-end life and health care services and operating model and gained a deep understanding of the wide-ranging development of Hainan's medical tourism industry.
For lunch, they enjoyed local specialties at Qionghai’s Jin Ho Jia restaurant, including salt-baked chicken, fried pandan noodles, mango rice noodle rolls, and coconut milk qingbuliang dessert soup. The food was a big hit, and resulted in quite a bit of excited chatter as well as plenty of colorful photos and videos that the students plan to use in their content creation projects.
International students first documented, then devoured local specialties at the Jin Ho Jia Restaurant in Qionghai.
After lunch, the students headed over to the Window of World Tropical Fruits, also located in Qionghai, Hainan, where they checked out how rare tropical fruits are grown, made their own chocolate, fed animals at the zoo, and ate plenty of fresh-picked tropical fruit. That evening, they enjoyed a special dinner on the lawn at the park.
“These two days of creative activities have been really interesting and useful for us in creating vlogs and video content,” said student Chen Rong.
Yang Ying, from Laos, spoke to reporters about her first time making chocolate. “Making chocolate was a fantastic experience. I worked with several other students from different countries, and plan to make a short video sharing my experience. Hopefully more people will want to give it a try!”
In the evening, ‘Qionghai Night’, a spectacular large-scale intangible cultural heritage performance, took place on the lake. The students were impressed by the profound heritage and artistic beauty of the intangible cultural heritage techniques. The show marked a successful conclusion to their Qionghai cultural experience tour.
