Hainan's cultural tourism market sizzled during the summer months this year, fueled by a wealth of product offerings, policy dividends, and festival activities. An official from the Hainan Provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports stated that this summer, diverse consumption scenarios in the province's cultural tourism market drove growth across the entire tourism chain, including transportation, accommodation, and dining. Data from multiple travel platforms such as Fliggy, LY.COM (Hopegoo), Meituan, and Ctrip indicated a marked uptick in tourism-related bookings, passenger traffic, and consumption across the entire province.

To further boost the vitality of the summer tourism market, Hainan Province launched a summer tourism consumer spending subsidy campaign, which runs from July 1 to September 30. As of August 30, over 300,000 tourists took advantage of the subsidies, with more than CNY 30 million distributed. These figures equate to more than CNY 500 million in tourism spending, demonstrating the campaign's effectiveness in boosting consumption.

Data released by Fliggy shows that flight bookings to Hainan during this summer vacation saw substantial year-on-year growth compared to last year. According to Ctrip's statistics, hotel bookings increased by 10% year-on-year.

This summer, the vibrant atmosphere of the 2025 (26th) Hainan Island Carnival directly translated into outstanding cultural tourism consumption performance. Consumption figures from various platforms and local government agencies reveal that in August, Hainan's cultural tourism market achieved significant growth in bookings, visitor numbers, and spending, demonstrating significant vitality. On the carnival's opening night on August 2, searches for food options at the event's main venue in Haikou's FUNBAY area surged 289% over the previous month.

Additionally, data from Meituan Travel shows Hainan's cultural tourism bookings in August 2025 grew 13% month-on-month. The nighttime economy performed particularly well, with searches for "Hainan University South Gate Night Market" and "Lingshui Xincun Night Market" rising by over 500% and 380% year-on-year, respectively. Tropical rainforest attractions were also highly favored, with search volumes for Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Tourist Area and Yanoda Tropical Rainforest Park showing significant increases.

LY.COM's data also reflects the positive impact of the Hainan Island Carnival on Haikou's tourism market. From August 1 to 24, the number of hotel room nights in Haikou increased by 10% month-on-month, while gross operating profit from rooms grew by 15%. Destination air ticket sales increased by 12.49% month-on-month, with sales revenue rising by 11.82%.
