The four Filipino content creators continued their exploration of Hainan as part of the “Hainan Meets Palawan: Calling Filipino Content Creators to Experience Hainan Culture” event. That day, they embarked on an in-depth cultural experience journey across Hainan—one that combined visual beauty with delightful taste surprises—as they visited the windmill coast, an intangible cultural heritage exhibition hall, and a tropical fruit garden.

Wenchang: Blue Coast, Heritage Flavor

After taking in the spectacular sea view at Wenchang Windmill Coast, the Filipino content creators visited the Puqian Three Grannies Zaopocu Cultural & Leisure Manor in Wenchang. The blue-and-white-toned cultural complex complements the coastal scenery of Mulan Bay and has been dubbed “Hainan’s Santorini.” As a key intangible cultural heritage display project in Wenchang and a model of rural revitalization through culture-tourism integration, the manor brings together ICH exhibitions, immersive experiences, themed dining, and seaside leisure. It has become a new cultural landmark along Hainan’s round-the-island tourist highway.

Inside, the production techniques and historical origins of the intangible cultural heritage Zaopocu, as well as Wenchang’s culinary culture, are showcased. After the visit, the guests tasted an authentic Zaopocu hotpot—a soupy dish swimming with seafood made with lees leftover from rice wine production—on site. Its tangy, spicy, and savory broth and distinctive flavor drew high praise from the visitors.

Sela Guia said, “Here, I came across Hainan’s ‘Santorini’—blue-and-white buildings, a sea-view pool, and a first-row coastline. Every casual shot is a vibe-filled photo, and the place feels very comfortable. The Zaopocu hotpot is delicious; its tangy and spicy flavor is very similar to Filipino cuisine.”

Qionghai: Rare Fruits, New Agritourism

That afternoon, the content creators walked into the Window of World Tropical Fruits in Qionghai. The park brings together more than 700 tropical fruit varieties from around the world—from slim finger-like lemons to mamey fruit shaped like sweet potatoes, and from giant starfruit flourishing among the vines to crystal-clear caviar limes—creating a scene of abundant tropical harvest.

During the visit, the four got a firsthand look at the scientific research achievements in tropical fruit introduction and breeding, and immersed themselves in new agritourism business models. Leveraging the policy advantages of the Hainan Free Trade Port, the park has introduced more than 700 tropical fruit varieties from 30 tropical countries at similar latitudes, 420 of which were introduced to China for the first time. In 2024, the park was rated a national 4A-level tourist attraction, receiving over 1 million visitors annually and completing the leap from “selling fruit” to “selling experiences.”

Surrounded by exotic fruits beyond their imagination, Innah Bee felt as if she had stepped into a fruit “blind box.” Pointing to mamey fruit and cempedak, she said, “Today I saw several fruits I have never seen in the Philippines, like mamey and cempedak. It feels really new and exciting.” But when she saw dragon fruit in the garden, she immediately broke into a familiar smile: “I often eat dragon fruit in the Philippines, so seeing it here feels very familiar.”

From the romantic seascape of Wenchang Windmill Coast to the tangy, spicy, and savory Zaopocu hotpot; from the exotic fruits of Qionghai’s tropical orchard to the sweet hands-on chocolate experience—the four Filipino content creators have captured Hainan’s natural beauty, the charm of its intangible cultural heritage, and the fun of agritourism, along with those “like home” and “unexpected” moments, in their cameras and in their hearts.

Next, they will continue their Hainan journey, using short videos to tell audiences in the Philippines and ASEAN the story of this vibrant island. For them, some flavors felt like home—while others were a delicious discovery. Those familiar flavors and surprising discoveries may just be the most touching resonance between the people of China and the Philippines.
