On the afternoon of August 18, four Filipino content creators arrived in Haikou to begin a week-long, immersive cultural tour of Hainan. The visit aims to showcase the island's cultural character and the vitality of its culture and tourism sector through the eyes of prominent overseas creators.

The four Filipino creators work across travel and lifestyle, music and dance, and dramatic performance. They have broad influence on social platforms in the Philippines and a combined following of approximately 30 million.

Over the seven-day itinerary, the creators will share Hainan's traditional customs and modern development with audiences in the Philippines and across ASEAN through first-person short videos, livestreams, and photo-and-text posts.

Their route takes in Hainan's diverse cultural and natural attractions, from Haikou's Qilou Historical & Cultural Quarter, Beigang Island, and Rongshanliao Fishing Village to Wenchang's Three Grannies Zaopocu Cultural & Leisure Manor, Qionghai's Window of the World Tropical Fruits, the Wanning National Surfing Training Base, Baoting's Binglanggu Li & Miao Cultural Heritage Park, and the CDF Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex. Together, these destinations offer a cross-section of how the island blends traditional culture with contemporary energy.

On their first day in Hainan, the creators showed keen interest in the local climate and distinctive cuisine. Sela Guia said she was especially curious about the Southeast Asian-influenced architecture of the historic Qilou streets and the local specialty zaopocu, a tangy fermented rice-lees hotpot, and hoped to capture an authentic and engaging Hainan through her lens.

Kevin Montillano, meanwhile, has set his sights on surfing in Wanning and Xinglong's coffee culture. He plans to turn these experiences into short videos for his followers: "I hope that after watching, people will feel the urge to come and see Hainan for themselves."
