GlobeNewsWire recently published an article titled “Sanya Ready to Host Asian Beach Games as Venues Finalised,” which details the venue planning process for the 6th Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026.

The report mentions all eight competition venue clusters: six positioned along the “Coconut Dream Corridor” in Sanya Bay, one on the Sanya River, and another is inside the Sanya Sports Centre Gymnasium, creating a unique “coastal + urban” layout. Covering about 280,000 square metres, these venues have 10,150 ticketed seats, with around 118,000 tickets already sold.

After its release across Europe, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific, the article quickly gained attention from 446 leading international media outlets, portals, and information platforms such as Associated Press, Fox News, Yonhap News Agency, Kyodo News, Asahi Shimbun, Bernama, Press Trust of India, Antara, and Vietnam News Agency, accumulating a total of 139 million views.

Argentine journalist Martin Fernando Mazur noted that Tianya Haijiao is an iconic Chinese landmark, even appearing on CNY banknotes. He believes that situating key competition venues within famous scenic spots showcases both innovation and daring in Sanya’s event planning.

The article notes that the venue design not only accounts for the Games, but also for the city itself.

Huang Chuitan, the Executive Deputy Director of the Venue Department of the Sanya Asian Beach Games Organising Committee (SABGOC), explained, "We are not constructing isolated stadiums; instead, we are 'placing' arenas on the beach. Once the Games are over, these temporary structures will be taken down, restoring a clean coastline for the public to enjoy.”

SABGOC states that venues such as the Sanya Sports Centre Gymnasium, which will host 3x3 basketball, will be converted into public fitness spaces after the Games. Additionally, some temporary facilities along the route will be repurposed into community sports resources, supporting the growth of local sports tourism.

Furthermore, Xinhua News Agency's Indonesian Facebook account posted content highlighting Sanya’s lively “Asian Beach Games atmosphere,” enabling international audiences to experience the excitement digitally.

With the Games now underway, Sanya has officially entered the “Asian Beach Games phase." Blending sports, tourism, and ecology, this significant sports celebration is showcasing Asia’s vitality and eagerness from the ground up.
