With the addition of the vessels Guoxin Hai and Ronsheng Xing to the "China Yangpu Port (CN YPG)" registry on August 18, the number of ships registered at Hainan's Yangpu Port reached 101, marking the first time it topped 100.
Total capacity now exceeds 8.9 million deadweight tons (DWT), making Hainan China's leading free trade zone and port in both international ship registrations and overall carrying capacity. This growth has also propelled Hainan to second place nationwide in the total tonnage of ships operating internationally.
Since its founding, the Hainan International Ship Registration Administration, China's first authority for international ship registration, has consistently streamlined procedures and enhanced the institutional framework for the China Yangpu Port registry.
In collaboration with local authorities, the port has implemented a one-stop processing system, reducing registration material requirements by over 60% and boosting processing efficiency by 90%. Completion times for 15 key services have been cut to hours, and in certain cases, just minutes.
The range of vessels registered at the port is growing increasingly diversified and specialized. In addition to traditional bulk carriers and container ships, the registry now includes higher-value vessels, including refrigerated ships, semi-submersible vessels, and offshore engineering ships.
Notably, the registry has consistently maintained a zero-detention record, with 41 vessels recognized as "Safe and Credible Ships," representing 41% of those registered—the highest share among all Chinese ship registries.
The owner of the newly registered Guoxin Hai plans to register 14 more new vessels by the end of this year, adding over 1.1 million DWT to the registry.
