On Feb. 8, the 2026 Sanya CNY Shopping Festival was held at Dadonghai Square. Specialty products from ASEAN countries such as Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia were very popular with shoppers at the event.

ASEAN booths attracted large crowds thanks to a wide variety of unique products, including food and beverages. The Malaysian durian pastry booth offered rich, creamy bites of highly aromatic treats that made many an unforgettable impression. The Indonesian civet coffee booth was also very popular, with many shoppers quickly purchasing boxes of coffee after getting a taste.

"I've been wanting to try ASEAN cuisine for a long time, and I didn't expect to be able to buy it at the Sanya CNY Shopping Festival. This Malaysian durian pastry tastes especially good. I'll buy a few boxes to eat myself and a few more as gifts for relatives and friends," said Ms. Chen, a resident of Sanya.

“The Malaysian durian pastries are popular with those who like sweets and durian, and the Indonesian civet coffee is a hit with middle-aged people and seniors,” said the vendor. The event’s ‘buy more, get more’ discounts have resulted in excellent sales of these two ASEAN specialties, with over 20 boxes snapped up by eager shoppers.

Thanks to the open Hainan Free Trade Port policies, the 2026 Sanya CNY Shopping Festival was able to bring quality products from ASEAN countries directly to shoppers on the island, making a wider variety of products available and adding a strong international flavor to the holiday event.
