If you are interested in working and living in Hainan, chances are you have many questions. If that’s you, you’ve come to the right place! Upon the 6 month anniversary of the release of the Master Plan for the Construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port, HIMC has put together a list of the most asked questions by people from outside China according to the Hainan government service hotline “12345”. Today we are going to tell you something about how to purchase a property in Hainan.
(Song Guoqiang)
Currently, non-Chinese citizens can apply for a Permanent Residence Card in China, which can be used to handle property purchases, driver’s license applications, children’s schooling, and other personal affairs. Non-Chinese citizens holding Permanent Residence Cards are entitled to the same rights as Chinese citizens.
Don’t have a Permanent Residence Card? That’s ok! Officially recognized talented individuals can also purchase property in Hainan as long as the following conditions are met: (1) At least one of your family members (including yourself, your spouse, and your minor children) has paid personal income tax or social insurance in Hainan for a total of 12 months or more; (2) None of your family members owns a property in Hainan.
When purchasing property, non-Chinese citizens need to provide identification documents and other materials. The property developer will assist you in applying for qualification for property purchase verification with the local housing management department. After verification is complete, the property developer will prepare a purchase contract for you to sign, and submit the contract to be filed with the local housing management department.
