Hainan Boasts 79 International Passenger Routes

Hainan’s air transportation industry is taking flight. Currently, Hainan is connected to the world through a total of 79 international passenger routes taking travelers to and from 39 cities located in 21 different countries. This is a 30% increase in the total number of routes over 2024, with passenger throughput also up by 31% YOY.

Between Oct. 8-11, Sanya launched three new international routes:

Sanya ⇌ Minsk

Ulaanbaatar ⇌ Sanya ⇌ Ulan-Ude

Sanya ⇌ Kuala Lumpur

Hainan boasts China’s most convenient and open visa-free policy, with travelers from 86 countries around the world eligible for visa-free entry to Hainan. A total of 21 Asian countries and regions, home to approximately 47% of the world’s population, are located within a four hour flight distance from Hainan, and 59 countries and regions, home to around 67% of the world’s population, are within an 8 hour flight from Hainan.

Hainan is developing four international flight sectors. Three express routes have already been established:

Hainan ⇌ Hong Kong

Hainan ⇌ Bangkok

Hainan ⇌ Singapore.

Hainan also offers direct international routes to London, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Seoul, Tokyo, Moscow, Almaty, Astana, and other destinations, connecting the tropical island province to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Northeast Asia, and Russian-speaking regions.

In addition, Hainan is currently the only province in China able to offer Fifth Freedom Rights, Seventh Freedom Rights, and stopover rights. As of October 11th, a total of 14 Fifth Freedom passenger and cargo routes had been opened.
