On December 10, this year’s annual Hainan Island Carnival kicked off in downtown Haikou's Century Park. Bringing a new look to the park beneath the provincial capital's iconic Century Bridge, this is the 22nd year that Coconut Island Carnival has been held.

With Haikou as the main venue and additional events taking place in Sanya, Danzhou, Qionghai, Wanning, and Wenchang, this year's carnival brings a host of exciting activities and exhibitions in the field of tourism, culture, and sports including Art Performance Week and the 4th China-ASEAN University Student Culture Week. 

The opening weekend of the Coconut Island Carnival will feature 15 themed activities including a Creative Products Market, Traditional Chinese Clothing Event, and light show. Featuring all sorts of live street performances, Century Park's Binhai Walkway will also get some fresh new decorations as "Carnival Way".
