The Wenchang International Aerospace City Administration in Wenchang, south China’s Hainan Province, was established on June 3, 2020. As the only coastal launch site in the country, Wenchang International Aerospace City has seen rapid development in the aerospace industry, technological innovation, and international cooperation over the past two years.

One of the 11 key industrial parks in the Hainan Free Trade Port, Wenchang Space City has attracted more than 860 enterprises, including 41 registered aerospace companies and 19 high-tech firms. In 2021, the total corporate revenue of all enterprises in the park totaled around RMB 2.8 billion, 15 times that of 2020.

Now, Wenchang Space City is focusing on industrial development to attract investment in the areas of rockets, satellites, and big data. In the commercial aerospace sector, it plans to set up an administration to accelerate the construction of a commercial space launch site in a bid to realize regular commercial launches by 2024.
